I am pleased to formally announce enrollment for the 2011 Aspiring Youth Summer Program in Seattle, Redmond, Bellevue and Portland. We are celebrating our sixth year as the Northwest’s premier specialized summer program and social skills group provider for children and teens.
Many of our students have a diagnosis of Asperger’s Syndrome, ADHD or PDD and some do not have diagnosis. We work with students ages 8-20 in age-specific camps and groups. Please note that our services are not appropriate for those with explosive behavior.
During camp sessions, new social interaction skills are practiced on our challenge course, trail-building, hiking, hands-on ecosystems lessons, theatre games, indoor rock climbing, Archie McPhee’s, laser tag, art projects, games and field trips to local attractions. The results are improved friendship formation, listening, flexibility, teamwork, frustration tolerance and increased self-esteem.
We achieve clinical excellence though the employment of Master’s level staff members as well as careful pre-program assessment to insure positive group dynamics. Furthermore, our year-round groups give students an ongoing community and continuing opportunity for friendships and social growth.
Below are some program highlights:
· New convenient Bellevue and Redmond camps (Addresses are on the enclosed flyer)· New summer theatre programs-Seattle and Redmond
· New robotics choice activities in all camps
· High School students earn community service hours toward graduation requirements
· Academic credit through our partner schools can be earned
· Expansion of Mountains to Sound Greenway service project
As in prior years, parents are also able to enjoy our weekly parent support groups. Please visit our web site at www.aspiringyouth.net <http://www.aspiringyouth.net> or contact me anytime.
Sincerely,
Ben Wahl, MSW
