SAFE ARRIVAL VOLUNTEERS URGENTLY NEEDED!
We all assume that once a child leaves the house in the morning that they arrive at school. Sometimes they don’t. We know this from the incident in Oregon last June.
To help prevent the possibility of a missing child at our school, Rachel Carson Elementary has a program that enlists volunteers each morning to cross-check attendance in the office and to make phone calls home to verify absent students.
Volunteers report to the school office at 8:30am each morning and work closely with the secretary to check attendance. 30 minutes to one hour is generally all that is needed.
This is a great volunteer opportunity for people who drop their kids off at school, who like to get out of the house early and be done, whose youngest child has gone off to school or those who enjoy working in an office setting.
We need a lot of volunteers as this help is needed each day there is school.
Please contact Amy Field for more information and training if you are able to help.
